What are Sub Domains, Add On Domains and Parked Domains

Sub Domains: If you have a domain name of your own for websites then you can create subdomains which will work as a separate website. You need not purchase a new domain name. In the example, the portion www is basically the subdomain and it is also called naked domain name. For example if you are building a website where users can have the sign in facility to create their own profile on your sight and the user members are invited by you to submit their articles or take part in forum discussions or ask questions then in the cited example we will change www to Articles, Forums or Experts (for question answers) so as to create subdomain as articles.example.com, forums.example.com or experts.com. Subdomains on your top-level domain can be added or deleted through the control panel or cPanel provided by your hosting service provider. Our main site www.webquestionanswers.com under construction will be having all these facilities to get your work or articles published, take part in healthy forum discussions and ask questions to be answered by our super experts in the respective fields. There is only one limitation to use of subdomains like www, mail, FTP, Cpanel, webmail. If you are to set up a mail system in the TLD then as per your hosting services provider you can create a subdomain like webmail.example.com. Subdomains do not require any registration and the very creation within TLD is sufficient.

Add on Domains: If the likely content on the subdomain is heavy and you feel like to host your content which is different from the above domain and does not fit into any subdomain then you can have add-on domain names which will require registration. Thus, if you want to host www.anotherdomain.com, then it is treated as Add-On Domain Names and it will depend upon the hosting plan taken by you as if it is for hosting one domain name, a limited number of domain names or unlimited domain names and every domain name will require registration.

Parked Domains: When you have registered a domain name but no website is hosted on the domain. For example, you have registered a domain name with wrong spelling then you can mask this domain name and redirect it to your primary domain name. Parked domains are not a unique website. If you do not renew your domain registration then your domain name goes to Parked State for a limited period and can be allotted to another website owner.

How does DNS works and Cyber Attacks

As we communicate with each other in the real world the machines accessing the internet communicate with one another. Communication between two persons is reciprocal and is known as addressing each other and if at one point in time there is an audio or video conference then the communication is with one another and there may be interruptions if more than two individuals start taking part in the communication. Computers can handle a lot of information instantly and DNS is the communication system for addressing the Internet. Every Machine (like computers, mobiles, laptops, ATMs, and POS terminals), accesses the internet depends upon DNS Services for exchanging the information.

DNS uses recursive, hosting and root servers to translate the domain names such as www.webquestionanswers.com into IP Addresses denoted by numerical values allowing the machines to reach the proper destination. Every internet application including websites, emails, social networking, online banking or VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol, sharing, videos rely on the integrity of the communications in between the servers involved. Had there been no DNS, it would have been difficult to operate and search the internet as numerical IP address cannot be memorized by the internet users whereas the specific names can be easily remembered by the users and the conversion of Domain Names into actual IP addressed is taken care of by the translating servers throughout the world. DNS has far-reaching consequences to facilitate national infrastructure, online commerce operations and above all the financial transactions. The domain name space is virtually a tree of domain names, subdivided into zones. The top-level or root zone is taken care of by the U.S. Department of Commerce (DoC) and is jointly managed by Verisign and the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) functions operator, who maintain the data in the root name servers. Every domain name ends with top-level domain (TLD) such as .com and to ensure that there is no duplication of domain names so that the internet operates properly without any conflict, there must be one and only one authority to register a domain names in root servers which also manage the domains for domain name registrars all over the world.

The process of translating a domain name into an IP address is called DNS resolution and when users pin in the domain name, such as www.webquestionanswers.com, in the web browser, the browser contacts a name server to obtain the corresponding IP address. All such queries interact with recursive servers operated by ISP or wireless carriers. Recursive resolver knocks at any of the 13 root servers and thousands of servers positioned globally to support root servers. TLD server like .com domain name server then redirects to second level domain server and then TLD answers the query of hosting domain name server. Recursive server sends query to the identified domain name server and domain name servers return the answer in the shape of IP address standard IPv4 with further translation to next-generation internet protocol IPv6 (as IPv5 could not take off) and when the recursive resolver knows the IP address, the website appears as the browser will request the website to show the content which gets uploaded to the browser. In normal course query gets resolved within 1/10th of a second that is timeless than the blinking of an eye. In future IPv6 may change to IPv7 or Smart Internet Protocol version (IPvSmart - Name and Version is suggested by the Author and will not be searchable on the internet when the unique IP addresses may increase from the present strength of 10 multiplied by 36 times to 10 multiplied by say 250 times with the increasing usage of internet as every mail ID, website, blog, ATM machine, Point of Sales Machines and other machines accessing internet have unique IP addresses). IPv6 has more security vulnerabilities as compared to IPv4 due to more and more transiting machines, servers and these security threats can multiply more rapidly than the solutions which are found only after taking off new versions and solving the issues relating to security threats thereafter.

However in the middle of the transition queries are vulnerable to man in the middle attacks by cybercriminals in the shape of hacking or hijacking so as to lead the queries to land at impersonated sites or look-alike site and due to such attacks in the middle of transition the cybercriminals can :

  1. Hijack emails
  2. Tap Voice over IP (VoIP)
  3. Impersonate websites
  4. Steal passwords and login information
  5. Extract credit card data and other confidential information
All this poisoning takes place in the cache of recursive name servers when fraudulent and fictitious DNS data gets inserted in place of data requisitioned. Recursive name servers temporarily store, or cache, information gathered during the query or name resolution process, but without DNSSec and the Recursive servers can not ensure the validity and accuracy of the stored information. Due to the malicious information getting stored on the recursive name server, the server is termed as having been "poisoned" which further facilitates an attacker to redirect traffic to fraudulent sites. MITM (or as it called the man in the middle) attack intercepts and changes the communications between two system server. The attacker can significantly change the machine communications so as to redirect traffic to an illegal address or fraudulent website. Internet users can not detect the "man in the middle" and assume that they are communicating with the correct IP Address or destination they sign in to the website with their user id and password to be trapped by the Key Loggers active on the illegal site.

Note: Domain names are registered for a minimum period of one and the maximum period of ten years by an individual or an organization. A domain name allows your fans, customers to find your site through easy to remember domain name instead of the numerical IP address, difficult to remember.

What is a Domain Top Level and Sub Domain

Domain Names

On the internet, all the machines like a personal computer, laptop, mobile phones and smartphones etc., communicate with one another through Hyper Text Transfer Protocol (HTTP) and in case of secured socket layer (SSL) the same protocol is called (https). ISP allots IP addresses to such machines. As IP Addresses are difficult to remember, domain names are used to manage, surf and understand the internet or World Wide Web. Without domain names, URLs would be a series of numbers of IP addresses. Domain Names facilitates the internet users to recall the IP addresses. Domain Name facilitates the setting up of a website, sending and receiving email or building an online store. Domain Names are like www.example.com, out of which one has to recall the memorable part of the domain name which is an example, used by the public, organizations or business centres to register their domain on the web.

For domain name registration the internet needs three parties that Domain Registrant, Domain Registrar and the domain registry. When the public types a domain name in the browser then, first of all, it creates a DNS query. The query searches for the IP Address of the domain name and knocks at the Domain Name servers.

While the .com in www.example.com is called top-level domain, example (the memorable part of the domain) is called the second level domain and www is called the third level domain. The third level domain does not require any registration whereas TLD can be generic (gTLD) or country code (ccTLD). In www.example.com the TLD .com in generic and it is registered in the UK with country code UK it will end up with the UK instead of com. The users can know the website with the country codes like in for India. At present, there are more than 20 gTLDs and about 250 ccTLD’s all over the world. Want to know more about Sub Domains, Add-On Domains and Parked Domains.

Technology without Technology - New Trick to Open Blogger Links in New Window?

Blogger provides an option to opt for the same window or new window for the link to open but mostly the bloggers like to open all their links in a new or separate window so that the readers do not lose track of the original post. No beginner blogger knows this trick and its importance in earlier days of blogging and when its importance becomes known, it is too late. To facilitate such bloggers here is the tricks that have worked on my blogs instantaneously:

Copy the Code :                <base target="_blank"/>

Now open the HTML design of your blogger template and find opening Body tag as   <body> and insert the above tag, as it is, after Body Tag that is

<body>

so as to appear as

<body><base target="_blank"/>

However if you as Newbie, do not able to locate the <body> tag as you may get confused with tag appearing as <body ....html coding .... then you can search for the following closing body tag through Ctrl+F in the HTML designing of blogger template:

</body>  and you can place the within brackets [code] = [<base target="_blank"/>] immediately before it without much thinking  to appear as
<base target="_blank"/></body>.

and save the template. You are done. All your links and Hyperlinks will open in New Window and your reader or visitor will not lose track of your original page, article or resources.

This is so simple. First, Try it, Test it and if liked share among your friends, circles, bloggers and other social networks. Happy Blogging. Your Happiness our source of Joy....

Tip! Find <body> tag in template by Ctrl+F. Check the Purview before saving the template. You can check all my Blogs at Social Hubs in WQA.

Become Technocrat Without Technology

The very title of the post may appear to be funny and illogical. But it is neither funny nor illogical as I have gone through the problems, a non-technical person may have faced, among High Tech IT engineers. There are so many intelligent and experienced people who, having the domain knowledge, can get the best IT solutions or Software prepared from IT programmers and developer. Let us take the example of managing employees in a big organization then the existing H.R.D. Manager will be the best source to provide a blueprint or we may call is a site plan showing the various processes to get the best of information, statistical data and above all smooth functioning of Human Resources including automatic sanction of increments, E.P.F. Management, Gratuity Liability Creation, Establishment Costs vis a vis Projected Budgets and so on.

We had earlier predicted that the year 2016 and 2017 will be years of blogging in India but now when half of the year 2017 is already gone we fine-tune our predictions and I can foresee that during the years 2018, 2019 and 2020 it will be a Classroom Curriculum even for the primary class student and the existing teachers, who are not well conversant or are not comfortable with the changing scenario may find it very difficult and embarrassing. This blog is being started with the intention that such parents, teachers and even primary class students, who need to have their first ever handshake with Information Technology and Tools so as to easily sail through the future. How can one imagine that without knowing A, B, C, D....., Z, one can attempt the spelling of Apple or Technology. Now Technology, Computer Languages will become as important as basic Languages like English, Hindi or regional languages.

To start with we will go ahead with:
  • How to Blog in Blogger
  • What About WordPress Blogs
  • Other Blogging Platforms
  • Launching a website - Single Page Website with your Bio and Social Profile. This Page is going to serve a big purpose as you grow in age and move to higher classes.

HTML Language is the basic A, B, C, D of participating on the web.
  • One can easily learn and start his or her own web page or even own blog or website using WYSIWYG (meaning What You See is What You Get)
  • As a primary class student just go this Online HTML Editor you can write any line as you write in a word document and click source, then you will get the HTML code for whatever you wrote in a plain text. Just analyze and you will start getting the idea of as to what is HTML and how simple it is.
  • Now do the reverse search in the Google and try to get HTML Code for a pre-written text or Image. Copy the code and put up in the above online editor so as to get the resultant plain text and the original image.
  • By repeating the above two exercises, again and again, you will learn that there are Header, Body and Footer like tags with opening and closing tag attributes.
Just to make you comfortable I pick up the HTML code for the above clickable Link Online HTML Editor and place it below:

<a href="http://htmleditor.in/index.html" target="_blank">Online HTML Editor</a>

Now copy and paste the above HTML Code in the editor and see for yourself the resultant output. It is converting from HTML to plain text and the tag used was A Href Tag used to provide hyperlinking within the articles.

What is an IP Address or Internet Protocol Address

Changing Technology
Every device like Personal Computer, Laptop, Mobile, Smart Phone which is used to access the internet is allotted a unique number like 125.0.0.1 consisting of four numbers separated by dots. This is what is called Internet Protocol or IP address. This IP Address can provide the General IP information like IP Number, ISP the Internet Service Provider and if Blacklisted or not. Geographical location information of the IP Address like Country, Region or State, City Name and latitude and longitude information of the location. This IP address can be used to identify the ISP, region or country from which the device is getting connected to the Internet. Individual computers or machines have only their individual IP Address. Because the numbers are difficult to remember, IP addresses may be allotted a hostname which may be easy to remember. Internet Service providers issue one unique IP address to any one machine. Such IP addresses used to be called static IP addresses. Due to increasing usage of the internet and limited availability of IP addresses the ISPs now issue dynamic IP addresses using the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol, which is auto configuration protocol used on IP networks. The DHCP also limits the user's ability to host websites, mail servers, FTP servers. When a single machine is allowed to function like multiple machines (with multiple domain names and IP addresses), then such IP address becomes the hosting provider for domain names.

Introduction to Google adsense - Premium Global Advertising Program

PIN Mailer by Google AdSense
Google AdSense and Google AdWords are two advertising media provided by the Google. While the AdWords is for advertising alone with which the advertisers can reach their customers in any part of the globe to promote their businesses, online stores, websites within their pre set and pre defined budgets and that too by designing ads of their own. Google helps its AdWords advertisers to reduce their advertising costs as they expand their activities by not only targeting their ads to most popular sites displaying adsense ads but also letting the advertisers know the secrets of lowest bidding online.

Goggle Adsense is available to both that is publishers and advertisers. While publishers get paid for the Adsense advertisements shown on their published works by the AdWords customers, the publishers can advertise their websites or online content, video, images within the set guidelines for Adsense and AdWords as per Google terms of service, so that they can redirect the visitors through their AdWords advertisements. Costing exercise has to be done by the publishers opting for AdWords advertising also. After all in addition to advertisers and publishers there is a huge world population of internet users which clicks on the advertisements to buy products and services or get redirected to websites with better content to ultimately find the ultimate products.

Introduction to Google AdSense: As already discussed above it is the most popular advertisement service available to publishers and advertisers on the web through content, videos, games, customized searches, bloggers, authors to monetize their online content. The publishers or website owners earn revenue both from clicks by internet users on advertisements and from impressions or page views that is the users visit your pages with Google Ads displayed on them. Besides valid clicks (invalid click activity is immediately penalized by Google by disapproval of publisher’s account) and the impressions, the publishers can also earn money by including a Google customized search box on their blog or web site through code generated by the publishers from their adsense dashboard. If internet users search the internet through your customized search engine then you, as a publisher, are to get some percentage of the profit relevant to their search terms. Through Adsense the publishers can monetize their YouTube Videos and developers can also earn adsense revenue through their game sites. Get Started to earn money by ethical means.
